3 Wind Turbines
South Twin Mountain
The project is proposed on South Twin in Rumford, Maine. All three wind turbines will be located in Rumford. It will utilize an existing road off Horseshoe Valley Road in Roxbury, Maine, and then a new extension will be built to connect North Twin in Roxbury to South Twin in Rumford.
Over the past few years, significant studies have been performed to assess the viability of the site. These studies include:
Wetland delineation
Acoustic bat survey
Site visits to assess suitable bat habitat
Raptor and eagle surveys
Flicker assessment
Sound study
Visual impact assessment
Architectural survey
Decommissioning analysis
System impact study (interconnection)
Each wind turbine will generate clean electricity into the local utility grid for decades. Prior to commencing construction, the project will fund a decommissioning reserve and establish a contact line for project questions.
The project submitted its state and local permit applications in November 2023.
